As a RN Ambassador, Donya is a natural. Her passion, knowledge, and enthusiasm
is easily translated as she shares her personal nursing stories, provides
"how to" information and enhances the image of the professional
nurse. "It was interesting to learn what kids thought about nursing.
They thought all nurses did was take temperatures and make beds. It was
great to see that the kids were getting excited. The presentation tools
made it easy for the kids to participate and it became an inter-active experience."
Donya plans to continue to use the downloadable presentation tools and posters as she does outreach in the elementary schools in her area. "I'm thinking, it might be better to start talking to kids that are younger — it's a good time to catch them. It's how I started, I was around 9 or 10 years old when I knew I wanted to be a nurse." Donya enjoys speaking to kids of all ages about nursing. "I think the fun thing about the Ambassador Program is that it reminds me of what I love about nursing.
