TIFFANY

“Life is a series of tests and the power to pass rests in my hands”

As one of only 15 participants chosen for the Los Angeles Mentors Program (L.A.M.P.), Tiffany Baker discovered nursing. Through this program "I learned about the broad opportunities that nursing has to offer."

With this new discovered goal came many obstacles. First, Tiffany had to get used to the 8-week semester system at the Santa Monica College Nursing Program as opposed to the more common 16-week program. In addition to that, Tiffany discovered how mentally challenging nursing could be. Having been placed on the waiting list, she learned to be patient and prepared for when an opportunity presented itself.

Now she's a student nurse intern at the Harbor UCLA Hospital. With this, she reaffirmed her determination to reach her goal.

Tiffany dreams of contributing to the development of children's lives through outreach efforts and being a pediatric nurse practitioner. Although she hasn't made a decision as to a specialty; her choices include Psychology, OB or Labor and Delivery. Tiffany is determined to succeed and to make her family proud by becoming the first college graduate in her family.
