An Occupational Therapist helps people with physical, mental, or environmental disabilities learn how to perform daily life tasks on their own. In helping a person regain skills needed for work, self-care, and leisure, an Occupational Therapist leads patients through activities, such as physical coordination exercises, paper and pencil exercises or computer programs. From teaching a blind person to use their sense of touch to perform daily activities to showing a mother of a disabled child how to assist her child at home, an Occupational Therapist helps people with injuries or disabilities lead independent lives.
